Melasma Conditions & Treatments

More common in women, Melasma is a dark discoloration of the skin that appears in sun exposed areas of the face. Women are far more likely than men to get Melasma. It is so common during pregnancy that some people call it the Mask of Pregnancy.

Melasma is marked by dark, uniform colors of the skin that appear as irregularly shaped patches. These patches are commonly found on the upper cheek, nose, lips and forehead. Melasma does not cause symptoms other than skin discoloration however this may be of great cosmetic concern to some, depending on the severity of the Melasma.
